Basic Facts on Spiders
- There are more than 36,000 species out in the world, but scientists feel that there could be even more.
- A spider can live anywhere. Most people see them in dark places because spiders don't like the sun too much, but you can find them high in the atmosphere. Some spiders have been spotted about 20,000 feet above sea level.
- Many spiders can also camouflage themselves into different colors depending on the circumstance.
- All spiders produce silk or venom, also called poison. The poison may not be harmful to humans, but can be fatal to other prey and/or predators. These two attributes to a spider have a big role in their food chain.
